Summer of 2007. So fresh!

Quite the deafening silence around here. To be fair to myself, I've been taking lots of photos for friends and clients that found me through Google (!!!) along with traveling to meet my baby niece (!!!) putting on fundraisers and commemorative celebrations for my day job as well as getting ready for my family and Casey's family to come in to town this weekend to see him get his White (physician) Coat.
Even with all of his school responsibilities and this meeting or that Flag Football game, over the past few months Casey and I have found ourselves really cherishing the precious time we have together. A lot of married couples that go through medical school together really struggle with the time dynamic and it challenges their relationship in ways that hadn't anticipated. I can honestly say the change in dynamic has been so good for us. Spending the summer apart and August's hospital episode have played their own roles - I am sure - but there's nothing like having a busy schedule to keep you on top of prioritizing your free time. Cheers to that!
In other news, it looks like I'm getting closer to figuring out what has been making me feel like an 80 year old since my last year of college. The little bugger Lyme. Since January of 2008, I've been going from doctor to doctor, trying to figure out what has been going on in my body. I finally saw a Lyme specialist this past week and after our conversation, I am starting to feel like I can trust myself - that I am indeed NOT going crazy. I've already started a few alternative treatments but have yet to get back on board with a healthy diet (and by healthy I mean, overboard insane - I'm going to need to eat like a caveman). There's more blood work to be done but I have some already showing at least one positive band. So, that's a start. I'll be honest. It's a little bit weird writing about this, like I am exposing myself. I grew up in a family that liked to keep things on the DL and for some reason I did not receive that gene.
And because I have no segue / I do pictures better than words...
Family visit on Labor Day Weekend.

Apple picking in October.
Pumpkin patching in October. See that age difference?!

Pumpkin carving. Give it up for the future Doc! Surgery, maybe?! I jest.

Next up, Casey in his doctor coat.
Oh, friend, I'm so sorry it's Lyme. It's so hard to kick and there are so few people who seem to know how to treat it. I know several people who have it- including one who's had it (unknowingly) since he was about 12, and he's now 25! Ugh, ugh. I'm glad you found a doctor who you trust and I hope you can kick it to the curb soon. I'll be praying.
ReplyDeleteYour nephews are incredibly adorable and those pumpkins are really impressive!
love those pretty pictures. and being honest! and photos from those early days of "E&C t" that i remember back in C'ville...
ReplyDeleteEsther - you've been in my thoughts and prayers since you posted that comment on my blog. So sorry about these health struggles but glad to hear some light is being shed on the cause. Hope you see big changes soon.
